A tribute to Gino Bartali"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Within the framework of the initiatives for the <strong>Italian Sport Day in the World<\/strong>, the Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv wishes to highlight an online event dedicated to Gino Bartali, the legendary Italian cyclist, recognized in 2013 as \u201cRighteous Among the Nations\u201d for his actions in support of the Resistance and for saving numerous lives during the Shoah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWheels of Courage\u201d <\/strong>is an online tribute honoring the extraordinary wartime heroism of <strong>Gino<\/strong> <strong>Bartali <\/strong>(1914\u20132000). Renowned for his victories in the Tour de France and the Giro d\u2019Italia, Bartali risked his life to save many Jews, transporting forged documents hidden inside the frame of his bicycle across Nazi-occupied Italy.
