The translators of the Talmud meet at the IIC in Tel Aviv

The project’s director, Professor Clelia Piperno, will explain the complexity inherent in the creation and management of an operation of this magnitude. Rabbi Michael Ascoli and Rabbi Joel Lattes will describe the types of problems and difficulties that they faced in their work as translators and proofreaders. A debate will follow.

The Talmud, completed 1,500 years ago, contains rabbinical discussions, anecdotes, case law, biblical interpretations and more. It is one of the fundamental texts of Judaism as well as an essential basis for the study of Jewish thought.

The meeting will be held in Italian
