Opening concert of the International Masterclasses and Žamboki Competition of Vocal Arts, Jerusalem

Young singers get the opportunity of networking with prominent international artists and teachers, getting a fresh perspective on persona vocal abilities, fine tuning the instrument and a deepened perspective on the singing artist’s role in society.

Students of all levels receive Master Classes, a chance to witness or take part in lessons conducted by professionals such as conductors, directors, voice teachers and opera stars.

The highlight of IMVAJ is the Josef žamboki International Singing Competition, which wishes to strengthen the ties between middle eastern and western cultures, setting out to further the careers of excelling singers by means of cash prizes and the arrangement of international audition and concert opportunities.

The Italian soprano Eva Mei will sing in the The Italian soprano, Eva Mei, graduated at Cherubini Conservatory in Florence in 1989. In 1990 she won the Catarina Cavalieri Prize at Vienna’s Mozart Competition for her Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), followed by her successful debut at the Wiener Staatsoper with the same role. Since her successful debut , she has appeared in the other great theaters of Europe and of the world, including: Berlin State Opera, Royal Opera House in London, La Scala in Milan (1993), Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro (1996), Salzburg Festival, Opera Nomori in Tokyo. She has worked with the conductors Roberto Abbado, Bruno Campanella, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Zubin Mehta, and Riccardo Muti.
