One of the winners of “Franco Abbiati” Prize 2015, Quartetto Maurice was founded in 2002 in Turin with the endorsement of the Trio Debussy and Giacomo Agazzini (Turin Quartet). Quartetto Maurice has specialised in contemporary music with Roham de Saram and Irvine Arditti Philippe Manoury (Arditti Quartet), Francesco Dillon (Prometeo Quartet) Helmut Lachenmann and Philippe Manoury.

Their repertoire includes music by Gyorgy Ligeti, Helmut Lachenmann, Ivan Fedele, Fausto Romitelli, Georg Friedrich Haas, Stefano Scodanibbio, Philip Glass, Matteo Franceschini, Andrea Agostini, Valerio Murat, Kristian Ireland. They premiered music by Marco Momi and Ryan Carter (world premiere), Odd Sneeggen, Mayke Nas, Guido Baggiani (Italian premiere). Andrea Portera, Ryan Carter and Luiz E. Casteloes have dedicated new compositions to the Maurice Quartet.

The Quartet has performed “Tensio” by Philippe Manoury, one of the most important experimental composition in new music, at Festival ManiFeste 2015 of IRCAM in Paris. The quartet recives support by CIDIM, comitato nazionale italiano musica, and De Sono Associazione per la Musica.
