Italian Films at the XXXIII Jerusalem International Film Festival

E.T.E.R.N.I.T. (2015)

Friday 8 July, 5.30 p.m. , Jerusalem Cinematheque

Saturday 16 July, 2.15, p.m. , Jerusalem Cinematheque

Dir.: Giovanni Aloi

A Tunisian immigrant in Italy receives the visa which will allow his family to join him, but must make a radical decision.

The screenplay for E.T.E.R.N.I.T. was written after several interviews with workers in a company specializing in the recovery of asbestos. The actor chosen to play the lead is one of them and his personal experiences have strongly influenced the film. The film is a mix of a straightforward record of reality and extremely powerful dramatizations. The site was not rebuilt on the set; the removal of industrial asbestos was actually filmed as it was happening, with technical difficulties and at considerable risk.
