The Italian Cultural Institute of Tel Aviv invites you to a screening of the documentary Liliana, on the occasion of the commemoration of the roundup of the Roman ghetto on October 16, 1943, one of the most tragic chapters in the persecution of Italian Jews during the Second World War.
Liliana retraces the personal and civic journey of Senator for Life Liliana Segre, from her childhood marked by the racial laws, through her arrest and deportation to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp, to the painful separation from her father.
Deported at only thirteen years old, Liliana Segre survived the horror of the Shoah. After a silence lasting decades, from the 1990s onward she chose to turn her testimony into tireless civic engagement, sharing with the Italian public the memory of the persecutions and the urgency of remembrance.
Through previously unseen material and a more intimate, family-centered perspective, the documentary portrays a central figure in contemporary Italian history, underscoring the value of historical memory and its transmission to younger generations.
